Over 500 village women attain self-reliance by sewing clothes

BOGRA, Oct 26: More than 500 village women of the district have become self-reliant through sewing clothes after taking short-term training.

Sources said the poor and unemployed women of the area took training from Nabo Jagoron Songstha and took tailoring as a profession and attained financial solvency.

"I have taken 45-day training last year and started sewing clothes," said tailor Sabina Bibi of Kazipara village under Kahaloo upazila. She said, "My daily income is minimum Tk 400."

Fatema Begum said she attained self-reliance by sewing women's clothes.

In a recent visit this correspondent found female tailors at Dupchanchia, Kahaloo and Shibganj upazilas were passing busy time to prepare clothes according to the customers' order.

Nabo Jagoron Songstha is playing a vital role in improving unemployment in the area, said district women affairs officer Shahidul Islam.
