Man held with 72 gold bars at Dhaka airport

A preventive team of Dhaka Customs detained a man along with 8.45kg gold at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Monday night.

The arrestee was identified as Himel Khan, according to a news agency report.

Sazzad Hossain, assistant commissioner, Dhaka Customs, said a preventive team of Dhaka Customs stopped Himel Khan who came from Dubai by a flight of Emirates Airlines and searched his luggage.

Seventy two gold bars weighing 8.45 kg gold worth Tk 42.2 million was recovered from the bag pack he was carrying, he added.

He also said Himel was handed over to police and steps will be taken according to Customs Law.
