Fakhrul rules out any aggressive programme for now

BNP announces two-day demonstration

Wednesday, 1 November 2017

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that his party does not want to announce any aggressive programme right now.

"We hope good sense will prevail upon the government to come to the path of negotiation – thereby shunning the path of violence," he said.

Fakhrul called upon the government to take step for a dialogue on holding the next polls in a credible and neutral manner.

The BNP leader made the remarks on Wednesday while announcing a two-day demonstration programme from a press conference at Naya Paltan protesting the recent attacks on party chairperson Khaleda Zia’s convoy in Feni.

As per his declaration, BNP leaders and activists will either stage demonstrations or hold protest rallies in all districts on Thursday, said a UNB report.

BNP's Dhaka city unit will also observe similar programmes on Saturday.
