Around 100 films from over 30 different nations were submitted in the first edition of WLISFF. Top 30 short films were screened at the closing ceremony followed by a panel discussion on ‘Creating a safer workplace for women in the film industry.’ Prominent film activists, academicians and filmmakers were present at that segment.

Panellists for this session included Shameem Akhtar, a famous Bangladeshi filmmaker and screenplay writer; Fauzia Khan, honourable faculty of the postgraduate Diploma in Film and Television in Pathshala South Asian Media Institute and Dr Kaberi Gayen, Professor of Department of Mass Communication & Journalism.

The session has been moderated by Sadia Khalid Reeti, prominent film critic and editor of Dhaka Tribune's Showtime.

WLISFF is a platform dedicated to promoting the various dimensions and forms of filmmaking among female filmmakers from around the world and recognising the expanding arena of independent female filmmakers.

With the slogan 'Her Voice, Her Vision,' this festival aims to create a cross-cultural platform for a wide range of creative female filmmakers from Bangladesh and abroad.
