China to scrap limit of presidential term

China’s Central Committee proposed on Sunday to remove a limit of two consecutive terms for the president and vice president, the official Xinhua news agency reported.

The committee proposed removing the clause ‘shall serve no more than two consecutive terms’ from the constitution.

The Central Committee also proposed inserting ‘Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era’ into the constitution, Xinhua said in a separate statement, referring to President Xi.
