Rohingya children to get vaccines

150,000 Rohingya refugee children will be given vaccines, said Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim on Thursday.

The minister said it while addressing a press conference at his ministry on the Rohingya health service issue.

Nasim said already around 56,000 children were provided with MR vaccines, while 20,000 children were given BOPV immunisation and 15,000 vitamin A.

A total of 36 medical teams are working at 12 health camps to provide health services to the Rohingya refugees, he added, reports BSS.

The minister said 10 separate medical teams of Family Planning Directorate are also working in the Rohingya camps to extend family planning services. They are distributing medicines, condoms, pills and injections.

Besides, 86 volunteers have been deployed to provide counselling about family planning among the Rohingya people, Nasim added.

Nasim also pledged to pay one day’s salary of all officials and employees of the health ministry to the Rohingya people.
