Rizvi blames Quader for barricade in front of Moudud's house

BNP's senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader gave the directives to put barricade in front of BNP leader Moudud Ahmed's ancestral home in Noakhali.

"Country's a senior citizen and noted lawyer Moudud Ahmed has been kept confined to his home at Companiganj's Maniknagar since Friday morning by police at the directive of Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader," he said.

Rizvi made the allegation while speaking at a press conference at BNP's Nayapaltan central office on Saturday, reports UNB.

Rizvi said Quader has kept his electoral rival Moudud confined to his home as he knows he will suffer a defeat to him in the national election.

He demanded the government immediately withdraw the police barricade from Moudud's house and release the arrested party leaders and activists.

"Police members are showing the attitude of hooligans towards Moudud by barring him from meeting party leaders and activists," Rizvi claimed.

Rizvi alleged that police arrested 10 BNP leaders and activists as they went to meet Moudud on Friday.

The BNP leader also said police is not allowing any BNP leader to meet Moudud today and hold schedule organisational meetings with him.

"Such an attitude towards Moudud Ahmed is direct hooliganism. We strongly condemn and protest it," Rizvi said.

He said the killing of people in road accidents are growing while homebound holidaymakers are badly suffering in tailbacks on the highways as Quader has failed to run his ministry.

"Children and adolescents took to the streets as Quader failed to ensure safe roads for them. People also can't go home smoothly on the occasion of Eid only for his failure," the BNP leader observed.
