BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has convened her party's national executive committee's first-ever meeting on Saturday next as a Dhaka court is set to deliver verdict on February 8 in a corruption case filed against her, reports UNB

"The meeting of our party's national executive committee will be held in the capital on February 3. All-out preparations are being taken to make it a success. The meeting is very important for various reasons and latest political developments," BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi told the news agency on Sunday.

He said they will inform media later about the venue of the meeting to be chaired by Khaleda.

Apart from the 502 executive committee members, presidents and secretaries of BNP's all organisational district units and associate bodies are also supposed to attend the meeting.

As per the party's constitution, the meeting of the executive committee should be held after every three month, but it could not hold any meeting over the last one-and-a-half years.
