No possibility of dialogue with BNP: Tofail

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed while inaugurating the dredging work of Sripur-Bhola-Gangapur river route at Bheduria Ferry Ghat in Bhola on Saturday said there is no possibility of holding any dialogue with BNP over the upcoming national election as the election will be held as per the Constitution, reports UNB.

“The national election will be held as per the constitutional rule and according to it, like the other countries, the present ruling party will be in power as a neutral government and the Election Commission (EC) will hold the election. And for this, there is no option to hold any dialogue with BNP over the issue and even there is no necessity of it,” Tofail elaborated.

“BNP has no alternative to participate in the election and if they do not do it, it will be harmful for them,” said the Commerce Minister, adding, “BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia didn’t participate in the last national polls and it was not our fault.”

Regarding new gas filed, he said that a good reserve of natural gas has been found in Bhola.

Addressing the programme as the special guest Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan said that the present government has made 21 dredgers while the construction work of another 20 is on.

Bhola Zila Parishad Chairman Abdul Momin Tulu and and Bhola Sadar Upazila Parishad chairman Mosharraf Hossain also spoke on the function, among others.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) chairman Comrade M Mozammel Haque presided over the function.
