The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has frozen the bank accounts of businessman Monir Hossain (locally known as Golden Monir), three of his family members and his business entities, official sources said.

The NBR also froze the bank accounts of Monir's wife Rawshan Monir, son Rafy Hossain, and mother Ayesha Begum.

Bank accounts of Monir’s business firms including Auto Car Selection, Gulf Auto Cars Lts, Monir Builders Ltd, Golden Gear and Monir Trading International have also been frozen by CIC.

The CIC sought details of financial transactions in all types of savings, current and loan accounts, FDR, savings instruments, debit and credit cards, locker, vault operated in the period and being operated by the people in single or joint names and by the firms.

Earlier on Saturday, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Monir and filed three cases over the recovery of illegal firearms, liquor and foreign currencies from his residence. He was put on an 18-day remand later on Sunday.
