Japan to provide funds for three human security projects

The government of Japan will extended grants to three Bangladeshi non-government organisations (NGOs) for grassroots human security projects (GGHSPs).

Japanese Ambassador in Dhaka Hiroyasu Izumi signed the 'grant contracts' for the GGHSP at the Embassy in the capital on Tuesday.

Executive Director of Trust for the Rehabilitation of the Paralyzed (TRP) Md Shafiq-ul Islam, Executive Director of Christian Service Society (CSS) Mark Munshi and Executive Director of Centre for Natural Resource Studies (CNRS) Dr M Mokhlesur Rahman signed the contract representing their organisations.

In total, these grants amount to $225,986. Japan has supported 190 NGO projects through its grant assistance for grassroots human security projects since 1989 with the view to enhancing economic and social human security at the grassroots levels.

The total sum of these GGHSP grants extended to NGOs in Bangladesh to date amounts approximately to $ 14.75 million, said the Japanese Embassy in Dhaka, reports UNB.
