Man on seven-day remand for ‘hurting religious sentiment’ in Feni

A Feni court on Friday placed a man on a seven-day remand for allegedly hurting the religious sentiment of Muslims on Facebook.

The accused was identified as Mithun Dey alias Piklu Nil, 32, son of Bachchu Dey.

Officer-in-Charge of Feni Model Police Station Omar Haidar said Mithun had been hurting the religious sentiment of Muslims with his posts, reports UNB.

Recently, he posted a satirical post about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), sparking protests among the locals in Daktarpara of the district town, the OC said.

Local resident Sana Ullah filed a case against Mithun on Thursday night.
