Jessore ‘gunfight’ leaves one dead

Police recovered the body of an unidentified man along with a gun, two rounds of bullets, five cutlasses and one Chinese axe from Nongorpur Mazar area on Magura road in Jessore district on early Tuesday.

Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police, Ajmal Huda said the man, aged around 60, was hit by bullet when an alleged gunfight erupted between two groups of robbers of the area.

Tipped-off, police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Jessore General Hospital morgue for an autopsy, the OC added.

The robbers somehow managed to flee the spot, reports a local news agency.
