‘Gunfight’ leaves ‘criminal’ dead in Chittagong

Mohim Uddin alias Mohin, 36, a listed criminal was killed in an alleged gunfight between his cohorts and the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in port city's Panchlaish area on early Thursday.

Mimtanur Rahman, Senior Superintendent (media) of RAB-7 said, acting on a tip-off, a team of the elite force launched a drive in the area around 4:30 am.

Sensing the presence of the elite force, the criminal gang opened fire at RAB men prompting them to retaliate, triggering a gunfight.

Later, Police recovered the body of Mohin who was caught in the line of fire and died while the others managed to flee the scene.

Two foreign-made firearms, including one AK-22 riffle, one SMG and huge ammunitions were also recovered from the spot, according to a local news agency.
