BGB seizes 71 kg hemp in Jessore

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) confiscated 71 kilograms of hemp from Raghunathpur in Sharsha upazila of Jessore district on Monday.

Lt Col Ariful Haque of 49 BGB Battalion said, a BGB team carried out a drive after being tipped off that a big consignment of drugs would be smuggled through Raghunathpur border point.

Later, the paramilitary force members seized 71 kilograms of hemp, said Ariful adding the smugglers managed to flee the scene sensing the presence of the law enforcers, according to a news agency report.

A case has been filed with Benapole Port Police Station.
