A number of employees of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) formed a human chain in Dhaka on Tuesday to press home their 10-point demand, including payment of arrears and nationalisation of their job.
Around 200 staff and drivers from 18 BRTC bus depots across the country joined the human chain in front of the national press club.
In their address at the human chain, the employees alleged that they said did not get their arrear for months and many employees don’t get their pension money even eight to ten years after their retirement.
The observed at the demonstration that people lost their confidence to the state-owned transport maintenance and management.
They demanded the Prime Minister’s intervention to resolve the crisis and bring back people confidence to it.
They urged the authorities concerned to meet their demand immediately blaming some the BRTC staff behind the ongoing crisis.
