AL to celebrate recognition of Bangabandhu speech

The Awami League plans to celebrate the recognition of the historic 7th March speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as a world documentary heritage.

The ruling party has finalised a seven-day programme in this regard at its secretary-level meeting on Wednesday.

The meeting was held at party chief's political office at Dhanmondi in Dhaka. Party's General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader presided over the meeting.

According to the programme schedule, party leaders will place wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu on November 3. The record of March 7 speech will also be played on that day.

A BSS report says that the party will hold rallies at educational institutions across the country on November 4 and arrange prayers at religious institutions on November 5.

The processions will be brought out across the country excepting Dhaka on November 6.

Seminars and discussions will be held on November 7, cultural programmes will be held on November 8.

The ruling party will hold a rally at 2.30pm at Suhrawardy Udyan on November 9.

The Director General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, announced on Monday to include the historic 7th March speech in the memory of the World International Register, UNB reported Tuesday citing a press release of Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
