2.5m more Pfizer vaccines to arrive Monday night

Bangladesh will receive another consignment of 2.5 million Pfizer vaccine doses on Monday night.

These vaccines, given to Bangladesh under Covax facility, was dispatched from Florida, the United States.

“The cargo plane, which is transporting the vaccines, is expected to land at Shahjalal International Airport at 1.30am,” a spokesperson of the health ministry said.

Senior officials of the health ministry will be present at the airport to receive the vaccines.

According to officials, with this consignment, Bangladesh so far received 3.64 million Pfizer vaccines.

The first consignment had over 100,000 doses, the second consignment had 1.0 million 3 thousand 860 doses.

Bangladesh has administered 146,474 Pfizer vaccines so far of which 99,698 were given as first dose and 46,776 as second dose.

As of Sunday, the country administered 30,891,106 vaccine doses of which 16,312,460 were second dose.
