EED implements Tk 3.27b projects

Education Engineering Department (EED) has been implementing 872 projects at a cost of around Tk 3.27 billion (327.65 crore) in two northern districts of the country to ensure the quality education with assistance of information and communication technology.

 

Mizanur Rahman, Executive Engineer of DEE, said they are constructing necessary infrastructure at selected private collages in Rajshahi and Chapainawabganj districts, reports BSS.

 

To this end, works on 147 colleges are being executed with an estimated cost of around Tk 1.15 billion (115.43 crore).

 

Physical infrastructures are being developed at 97 private schools by spending around Tk 560.6 million (56.08 crore).

 

Academic building construction of 29 madrasas was completed at a cost of around Tk 167.1 million (16.71 crore).

 

Infrastructure development works are being implemented in 12 district headquarter-based post-graduation colleges at a cost of around Tk 124.0 million (12.40 crore) for quality improvement of those.

 

"We are upgrading 16 upazila level private schools to model ones where there is no government high school by spending around Tk 85.20 million (8.52 crore)," Engineer Rahman added.

 

New building construction, repairing, renovation and furniture supply works on the government and private schools are being implemented by spending around Tk 553.80 (55.38 crore).

 

At a cost of around Tk 53.0 million (5.30 crore), work on improvement of education environment is being implemented in six madrasas with financial support from Islamic Development Bank (IDB).

 

Secondary Education Improvement Programme was implemented in 27 schools by spending Tk 34.70 million (3.47 crore).

 

"We have started construction of two technical school and colleges in Charghat and Tanore upazilas with an estimated cost of around Tk 333.20 million (33.32 crore)," he said adding that the institutions will contribute a lot towards expansion of technical education there.

 

Construction of DEE's headquarters and district office buildings was completed at a cost of around Tk 21.50 million (2.15 crore), he added.
