Deep Ecology and Snack Conservation Foundation announced new body

The new board of directors of Deep Ecology and Snack Conservation Foundation, a voluntary organisation that works to conserve wildlife and nature with the motto 'Coexistence with Nature for a Healthy Earth', was announced yesterday.

At 10 am On Friday (February 10), the seven-member board of directors was announced by the advisor of the foundation and professor of philosophy, Dr Md Sowkot Hossain, at the 'Board of Director Announcement Ceremony-2023' organised in the Faculty of Arts of Jahangirnagar University. Md Mahfuzur Rahman, a student of the Department of Philosophy, was made chairman of the board of directors and Syeda Ananya Faria, a student of the Department of Law and Justice, was selected as executive director.

The remaining five elected members are professor Dr Md. Sowkot Hossain, wildlife photographer Adnan Azad Asif, Md Iftikhar Mahamud, Shuvo Sharma and Md Tasbin Shakib Samam.

Wildlife researcher and Chairman of the Department of Zoology Monirul Hasan Khan and Associate Professor of the Department of Bangla Mamun Or Rashid will serve as the organisation's advisors.

During the chief guest's speech, Professor Dr Md. Soukot Hossain said, "Our organisation started from Jahangirnagar University with the motto 'Every animal in this world has the right to live'. Now it has spread all over the world, the proof of which we can see in the media. All of us here have only one purpose; we will keep ourselves good by keeping nature appropriate. All animals are part of this nature, each animal has its own intrinsic value."

Former President of the organisation, Mahfuzur Rahman, said, "Our journey started in 2018. Now we have branches in 12 universities in Bangladesh. People's thoughts on conserving nature and life amuse me. I call everyone to be aware of saving life and nature."

Syeda Ananya Faria, Former Publicity Secretary of the organisation and Rajshahi University Branch, was awarded for her special contribution last year to protect wildlife.

Individuals and volunteers from different districts, including the consultant of the information and communication department of the government and Associate Professor of the Department of Bangla, Mamunur Rashid, wildlife photographer and trainer Adnan Azad Asif, general secretary of the organisation Shuvo Sharma, former program manager of Bangladesh Python Project Muzaffar Faisal, wildlife photographer and associate professor of Daffodil University Almas Zaman, wildlife conservationist and popular writer Sarwar Pathan, writer Bappi Khan were present among others.
