BUP LitFest 5.0 closes curtains

BUP Literature and Drama Club (BUPLDC), one of the most renowned clubs of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), brought the curtain down on- ‘3rd Space presents BUP LitFest 5.0, co-sponsored by Intefa.’

This literary event, partnered with Bombay Sweets, Hideaway Café, Maxx Cola, Gamers’ Garage, and Interactive Cares was inaugurated on February 3, 2022. The event came to a close on February 7, 2022, with a retro-themed ceremony. 

Because of the alarming spread of Covid-19 infection, the club had decided to hold all phases of this competition online.

This thoughtful step had paved the way for enthusiastic participants to take part and receive rewards from anywhere in the country. Major General Md Moshfequr Rahman, SGP, SUP, NDC, Vice-Chancellor of BUP was present as the Chief Guest.

He welcomed the online participation of passionate participants amidst all the challenges and changes during this pandemic in his speech.

The segments of BUP LitFest 5.0 was also graced by renowned individuals of our country such as Morshed Mishu, Assistant Editor of Unmad, Mohammad Azam, Professor at University of Dhaka, K M Asad, Photographer at Getty Images, Zillur Rahman Shohag, Professor at University of Dhaka and Mahbub Parvez, Advisor of Prothom Alo Bandhu Sabha. 

There was a total of 9 segments under which the participants could prove their talent. The winners were from different institutions across the country.

The runners up of continuous storytelling- Syeda Nujhat Jebin from Chittagong University, the Champion of Pop Quiz – Adnan Andalib from Notre Dame College, the Champion of Literature Quiz – Upama Adhikary from BRAC University, the Runner up of Digital Art- Ishmam Karim from Dhaka City College, the Runner up of Recitation and Champion of Continuous Story Telling- Mahmud Newaz Joy from Dhaka University are some of the accolade winners of the night.

Rifah Afia Ibnat Shaira, President of BUPLDC, was overwhelmed with joy because of the successful completion of the event. Just as she believes that it wouldn’t be possible without the amazing teamwork of all the club members, she also mentioned how it splashed colours in the souls when true normalcy seems a distant vision.

“This is a really emotional moment for all of my club members. We couldn’t organize this event for the past two years because of some technical difficulties and pandemic barriers, so it is difficult for us to put the feelings into words.  But the amount of participation we received was beyond our imagination and it had made our hard work worthwhile”, remarked Shaira.
