Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has said the country is currently implementing some 53 projects involving $15 billion with World Bank finance.

The finance minister said this in parliament while replying to a scripted question on Tuesday, reports BSS.

Among them, one has been completed on June 15, 2022, and nine on December 31 last year.

He hopes about ten projects will be completed by next June, and fourteen by December 31.

Kamal informed the house that 10 projects will be completed by 2024, and 13 projects by 2025.

The finance minister said the foreign assistance for the national budget has declined to US$ 2.23 billion in the current fiscal year from US$ 3.26 billion in the last fiscal year (2021-22), according to the BSS report.

He placed the data in the parliament while replying to a scripted question from Awami League lawmaker Morshed Alam (Noakhali-2).

In the written answer, the minister said the government received assistance equivalent to some US$ 3.26 billion from different development partners for the budget in the last fiscal year. But there is a possibility to get the assistance equivalent to US$ 2.23 billion in the current fiscal year.

Responding to questions from ruling party MP Kazim Uddin Ahmed (Mymensingh-11), the finance minister said there is currently no plan to increase the interest rate on family savings certificates. But the interest rate on savings certificates may be revised considering the investment situation.

In response to a question from Mamunur Rashid Kiran (Noakhali-3), Mustafa Kamal said the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has been working to accomplish 100 per cent of the revenue collection target.

The NBR expects that the target will be fully achieved by the end of the fiscal year, he said.
