The University Grants Commission (UGC) on Thursday requested the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) for extending the deadline of submitting applications for 43rd Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) preliminary examination till March 31.
The UGC sent a letter signed by its secretary to the BPSC requesting the commission’s chairman to extend the deadline, reports BSS citing a press release.
The UGC, in the letter, said that academic activities of all educational institutions of the country have been suspended since March 18, 2020 as per the instruction of the government due COVID-19 pandemic.
Therefore, the universities could not arrange the examinations at graduate and post graduate levels in due time.
The vice-chancellors of public universities held a meeting in this regard with UGC chairman in the chair on December 13, 2020.
According to the release, in that meeting, a decision was taken to hold the semester final examinations of graduate and post graduate levels maintaining the health guidelines while the vice-chancellors requested the UGC to take initiatives for extending the application submission deadline for the 43rd BCS examination.
