Obaidul Quader says BNP wants to obstruct development progress

Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road Transports and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Saturday said that the BNP wants to obstruct the country’s development progress.

“BNP-Jamaat does not want to see Bangladesh’s advancement. They always hatch conspiracy (against the country,” he said while virtually addressing the triennial council of Awami League’s Narsingdi district unit from his residence in the capital, reports BSS.

“But no conspiracy of them (BNP-Jamaat) worked since the Awami League remained in the state power and the party has been regarded as the people's party, the AL general secretary said.

He said, “Bangladesh is witnessing tremendous development as democracy has been established in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.”

“To continue this development journey, the continuity of the government is necessary,” he said.

Referring to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's recent comments on comparing the current situation with the pre-independence period, Obaidul Quader said, "He (Mirza Fakhrul) said that the Pakistan era was good, and that has once again proved that BNP is a communal party which loves Pakistan."

“The record that Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina has set in achieving development would help AL win the next election,” Quader predicted.

Urging party leaders and workers to remain united, Obaidul Quader asked to have faith in Sheikh Hasina as the prime minister is handling everything and will give everything.

He urged the leaders and activists not to be misled by BNP's propaganda and said that Bangladesh is moving towards good days under the leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter.
