BNP’s senior leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has reproached the ruling Awami League for using public money and state media in campaign for national elections due in December.

The senior joint secretary general of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has alleged that in some television channels, a ministry has been running advertisement using public money which is categorically a violation of the electoral code of conduct.

But the Election Commission (EC) has kept mum on the issue, he alleged. The BNP leader stated these at a press conference at the party's central office at Naya Paltan in the capital on Wednesday.

Rizvi alleged that the EC is paying no heed to the ruling party’s violation of the electoral code of conduct, but it has taken all efforts to put pressure on BNP ahead of the general elections.
