BNP-Jamaat's misrule pushed Bangladesh 50 years behind, Joy claims

Condemning the BNP-Jamaat alliance's 2001-06 regime, Prime Minister's ICT Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy has said the BNP-Jamaat's five-year misrule had pushed the country 50 years behind.

He made the remark in a post on his verified Facebook page on Thursday, reports BSS.

Joy also uploaded video footage on different incidents like killing, torture, occupation, rampant price hike of essentials, looting, graft, money laundering, militancy and grenade attacks that took place in the country during the 2001-06 tenure of the BNP-Jamaat government.

"The BNP-Jamaat alliance pushed the country 50 years behind. Is it reality or a mere political statement?" he questioned.

He said, “If people watch the video, the true incidents would come before them one by one.”

The ICT adviser said Bangladesh never witnessed such incidents of killing, murder, torture, occupation, factionalism, skyrocketing commodity price hike, looting, corruption and money laundering, the rise of militancy and grenade attacks took place during the BNP-Jamaat's five years regime.

He said BNP vice-chairman Tarique Rahman turned Hawa Bhaban into a parallel centre of state power and started an unofficial rule of giving bribes and percentages to him (Tarique).

Joy said, “BNP looted thousands of crores (billions) of Taka from the pockets of commoners by increasing the prices of essential items artificially through massive syndicates.”

"I will regularly bring before you the history of the misrule of the then BNP-Jamaat alliance government. General people could know how they were oppressed," he said.

Joy urged the people to keep their eyes on his official Facebook page and comment in the comment box.
