PKSF project elevated 183,000 families from ultra-poor status

Some 183,000 families have improved their condition from ultra-poor status with support of a project conducted by Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).

The information came at a paper presentation programme of PKSF on the evaluation of ultra-poor renovation project held at the city’s PKSF auditorium on Sunday.

The PKSF has implemented the €11.05 million project titled ‘microfinance for the ultra poor’ with the financial assistance by EU from November 2013 to April 2019.

The PKSF used the finance in some 1,724 unions across the country in order to bring them out of their ultra-poor condition.

At the event, EU First Secretary Manfred Fernholz said they are providing financial support to Bangladesh in meeting its goal to become middle income country.

The EU support will keep continuing in future, he added.

PKSF chairman Dr Kazi Khaliquzzaman addressed the event among others.
