Over 0.1m dengue patients hospitalised in 11 months

Over 0.1 million dengue-infected people received treatment at different hospitals across the country since January this year, said the Directorate General of Health Services in a regular update.

Meanwhile, 73 new dengue patients, including 37 in Dhaka, were admitted to different hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours till 8:00am on Friday, reports UNB.

Among those hospitlised, 99,306 made full recovery and went home, DGHS said.

Currently, 451 patients, including 251 in the capital, are being treated at different hospitals.

The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research has received 264 reports of dengue-related deaths. It has reviewed 203 of them and confirmed 129 deaths.

Bangladesh has seen a massive outbreak of mosquito-borne disease dengue this year.  Wreaking havoc across the capital, the dengue disease spread across the country.

But the situation started improving from the beginning of September with relatively low number of new cases.

Since the beginning of this year, the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research received information about 224 dengue-related deaths. It has so far reviewed 126 cases and confirmed 75 dengue deaths.
