Move to introduce e-payment gateway for land-related services

The government plans to introduce e-payment gateway for land-related services soon to reduce corruption and ensuring transparency in the sector.

Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury gave the information on Wednesday while inaugurating a workshop in Dhaka, reports BSS.

“Installation of the e-payment (Electronic Payment) gateway for various land-related transactions is now almost done,” he informed.

The minister said with introduction of payment gateways, a new horizon will emerge in the corruption-free and transparent land services.

“It is important to note that payment gateways are an effective and secure platform for making monetary transactions reliable,” he said.

Saifuzzaman instructed officials concerned for reclaiming government land, adding, “The law is being prepared to prosecute illegal possession of government land under criminal procedure.”

He further said, “We could not reach our rightful goal due to corruption.”

Appreciating officers who were working to enhance land services smooth and encouraging others, the minister urged all to work together to build a corruption-free Bangladesh.

With the cooperation of a2i, Dhaka Division Office organised a three-day long workshop on “E-Mutation Refresher”, with Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Joyinul Bari in the chair.

Deputy Commissioners, Additional Deputy Commissioners (Revenue), Upazila Nirbahi Officers, Assistant Commissioners (Land), Kanungos, Surveyors, Office Assistants, and Union Land Assistant Officers all participated in the workshop.

Earlier, three officials from different ranks shared their experiences and thoughts at the workshop in front of the Land Minister.

Additional Divisional Commissioner M Selim Reza, Local Government Director M Idris Siddiqui and a2i Project Director Dr M Abdul Mannan were present.

The e-mutation application is essentially a part of the national land-information and services online platform called ‘Zami’ (www.land.gov.bd).
