Maritime ports advised to lower signal

The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to lower signal as Cyclone Yaas is likely to move northwestwards further, weaken gradually and become unimportant.

The deep depression over Odisha and adjoining Jharkhand area moved northwards, weakened into a depression first, and then well-marked low and lies over Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh at 6:00 am today (Friday), according to a special bulletin of Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and the deep sea have been advised to proceed with caution till afternoon today (Friday).

On the other hand, the met office in its 24-hour forecast, said rain/thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind is likely to occur at many places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Mymensingh divisions and at one or two places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram & Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over Rajshahi, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions.

Day temperature may rise by (1-2) °C and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, as per the forecast.
