Japan East West Medical College Hospital in the city has started providing treatment for Covid -19 patients on Saturday.
Health and Family Planning Minister Zahid Maleque inaugurated the services through video-conferencing.
The hospital is a joint venture of East West Medical College of Bangladesh, Green Hospital Supply Ins (Japan) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The hospital is located at Aichinagar under Turag police station of Uttara in capital.
It has 300 beds, 240 ward beds, 12 ICUs (intensive care units), 12 HDUs (high dependency units) and 36 isolation cabins.
The hospital is now conducting tests of Covid-19 patients in its own PCR (polymerase chain reaction) lab and delivering the test reports within 24 hours.
