Give more emphasis on research works, President urges universities

 President Abdul Hamid on Monday urged the country’s university authorities to give more emphasis on research works ensuring their global standard.

 

“Research work is a very important in higher studies…you must give priority to research,” he said when a delegation of Rajshahi University, led by its Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Abdus Sobhan met him at Bangabhaban in the afternoon, reports UNB.

 

President Press Secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.

 

During meeting, President Hamid underscored the need for extracurricular activities, including sports and culture, of students apart from their regular academic activities.

 

He also stressed increasing allocation for research activities in educational institutions.

 

Noting that a good relation between the teachers and students of an educational institution is a must to make students well-educated, the President said an education-friendly atmosphere helps students to be real educated ones.

 

He expressed satisfaction over the academic activities of the Rajshahi University (RU).

 

Apprising the President of its overall development and academic activities, the RU delegation invited him to attend the next convocation of the university.

 

RU pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Ananda Kumar Saha and the secretaries concerned to the President were present.
