The Rapid Action Battalion or RAB has detained two men in a raid on a weapons factory in Cox’s Bazar’s Maheshkhali upazila.

The detainees were involved in making and selling weapons, RAB officials said. Several weapons and weapons-making materials were also recovered during the raid.

RAB conducted the raid on a tip-off that there were several weapons-making factories in the Maheshkhali hill area, RAB-7 Senior Assistant Superintendent Md Mimtanur Rahman said on Saturday night.

“Two men were detained while trying to flee after sensing the RAB team’s presence. Some others managed to escape during the raid.”

The detainees were identified as Mohammad Shahidullah and Abdul Hakim, bdnews24 reports.

RAB has taken the detainees on further raids to reveal similar factories in the hill areas of Maheshkhali, Rahman added.
