A court in Chattogram on Thursday sent Adnan Mirza, who was arrested in connection with the murder of a schoolgirl Tashfia, to jail.

Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Salem Mohammad Noman sent Adnan to jail when police produced him before the court with a 10-day remand prayer on Thursday afternoon.

The court fixed May 6 for hearing on the remand petition filed by police, said additional deputy police commissioner Nirmalendu Bikash.

Earlier, police recovered the body of a schoolgirl named Tashfia, a class IX student of Sunshine Grammar School and daughter of Mohammad Amin, a resident of Nizam Road from the bank of the Karnaphuli River near Patenga sea beach in the port city on Wednesday.

Tashfia departed her home on Tuesday to meet her boyfriend Adnan, a class IX student of Bangladesh Elementary School and son of Iskandar Mirza and she remained missing since then.

Later, police arrested Adnan Mirza, 16, from his Jalalabad Housing Society residence on Wednesday night, reports UNB.

Meanwhile, victim's father Mohammad Amin filed a murder case with Patenga Police Station on Thursday noon against six people, including Adnan.
