Police detain seven gambling suspects in Magura

Police in a drive have arrested seven alleged gamblers from Mashakhali village under Mohammadpur upazila of Magura district.

The arrestees are: Mehedi Molla, 26, son of Abul Molla, Manik Molla, 30, son of Lutfur Molla, Tariqul, 27, son of Sultan Biswas, Tariqul Haq, 28, son of Rahman Molla, Rajab Ali, 40, son of Mohammad Molla, Yad Ali, 28, son of Ratan Ali and Alamin, 30, son of Rezaul of the village, according to a news agency report.

Acting on information, a team of police conducted the drive in the area on Saturday night and arrested those seven after being caught red-handed while gambling, said Tariqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur Police Station.

The arrestees had long been involved in gambling and different unsocial activities, Tariqul added.
