Police arrest man on charge of killing wife in Noakhali

Members of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) arrested a man from Moulvi Pukurpara under Chatgaon thana in Chattogram city in the early hours of Saturday over the killing of his wife in Noakhali Sadar upazila on Wednesday night.

The arrestee Sheikh Selim, 29, hails from Lohagara upazila in Narail district, and works as a mason in Chattogram.

Noakhali Superintendent of Police Md Elias Sharif said that a team of PBI conducted a drive in the area and arrested Selim.

Later, Selim confessed to his involvement in the murder.

Police recovered the severely hacked and slaughtered body of Parvin Akhter Fahima, 17, daughter of Jahurul Haque of Purba Sullukia village, from a jungle adjacent to her house on Wednesday night.

Later, PBI started investigation into the murder.

After tracking phone number of Selim, PBI confirmed his location and nabbed him, reports UNB.

Selim informed that he and Fahima got married when they worked in a garment factory in Chattogram. Knowing about his first marriage Fahima denied to stay with Selim and came back to Noakhali.

On Wednesday, Selim came to Noakhali and called Fahima out of her house.

After that, Selim took her to the jungle and killed her, he confessed to the PBI team.
