A 63-year-old man has been arrested from Dhaka’s outskirt Savar for spreading anti-state rumours and propaganda through social media platforms.
A team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested Qazi Kamruzzaman on Sunday during a raid, according to a DMP statement issued on Tuesday.
The arrestee, who hails from Fakirhat upazila of Bagerhat, used to live at Amin Bazar.
The CTTC team also recovered four mobile phones, six SIM cards and one laptop, which were used for spreading propaganda through social media platforms, from his possession.
A case was lodged under Digital Security Act with Ramna Police Station about this.
