Husband, second wife sent to jail over Mohila League leader murder

A court in Chandpur on Tuesday sent the husband and his second wife to jail in connection with the murder of Shahin Sultana Fancy, a central Mohila League leader.

Shahin Sultana Fancy, 50, principal of Gollak Degree College and wife of Advocate Zahirul Islam, was found dead at her residence in Sholaghar area of Faridganj upazila on Monday night.

Later, police detained the victim's 58 years old husband who was a former president of Chandpur Bar Association, said Inspector Mohiuddin of Detective Branch of police.

Following statement of the husband, police also arrested his second wife Julekha Begum from Najirpara in the district town on the same night, he added.

Forkan Uddin, brother of the victim filed a case accusing four people including Zahirul and Julekha with Chandpur Model Police Station on Tuesday.

The two other accused are: Zahirul's brother Khairul Islam Nayan, 34 and his sister Janu Begum, 48.

There had been a dispute between the couple as Zahirul married Julekha Begum several years ago without getting the consent of his first wife Shahin, said police, reports UNB.
