Cops retrieve body of missing man from water body

A day labourer, who went missing on Tuesday, was found dead at a water body in sadar upazila on Wednesday night.

The deceased was identified as Ariful Sheikh, 35, son of Sheikh Mohammad Ali of Khegraghat village in the upazila.

Mahatab Uddin, officer-in-charge of Bagerhat Model Police Station, said Ariful went from his home on Tuesday night after receiving a phone call and since then he remained missing.

Locals spotted Ariful's body floating in the water body and informed it to police.

Later, police recovered the body was sent it to a local hospital morgue for post-mortem, reports UNB.

The body bore several injury marks, said the OC.

Police suspected that miscreants might have stabbed Ariful to death and dumped the body in the lake.
