The Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) has formed human chains from Ganabhaban to Bangabhaban in Dhaka to protest the killing of Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi.
The party also called for resistance against the repression of women, reports bdnews24.com.
Leaders and activists of CPB formed human chains at different places from Asad Gate to Motijheel in Dhaka on Saturday morning. Various other organisations responded to their call to join the programme.
“This is not just a movement of CPB but of all parties. Our movement against oppression of women will not stop,” said CPB President Mujahidul Islam Selim from a human chain in front of the RAJUK building in Motijheel.
Organisers will observe a women repression prevention week from Apr 20 to 27.”
The details of the programme will be announced later, he said.
A group of assailants set Nusrat on fire on Apr 6 by pouring kerosene over her body after she refused to withdraw a sexual harassment case against Sonagazi Islamia Fazil Madrasa Principal Siraj-ud-Daula.
She died in hospital on Wednesday, five days after she was attacked.
