Villagers capture 15-foot python in Faridpur

Villagers captured a 15-foot long python from a yard at Borail village in Madhukhali upazila of Faridpur district early Saturday while it was taking shelter in a house.

Owner of the house Akram Mridha said he spotted the giant snake on his aisle around 12:30am while he was returning home after watching an ongoing world cup football match.

Later, Akram along with some next-door neighbours trapped the snake into a wooden case after giving a mild blow to languish it.

Eyewitness Helal Hossain said the python is about 15 feet long, weighing around 20-25 kg.

Abdul Mannan Molla, chairman of Gajna Union Parishad, said villagers have become horrified to experience the presence of such a big snake in their village.

A few days back 13 mini pythons were also recovered from a house in nearby Gondardia village, he added.

It could not be ascertained from where the snake came from, Madhukhali Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Mostafa Manowar said adding, "We will investigate the incident to know its whereabouts."

The authority of the Forestry and Livestock department was informed about the matter, the UNO added, according to UNB.
