Police recovered the body of a schoolgirl hanging from a ceiling fan inside her residence at Bagdanga village under Manirampur upazila in Jessore on Wednesday.

The dead, identified as Nila Khatun (16), a class X student of Bagdanga-Dahkula Secondary School and daughter of Abdul Halim, a member of Arsingari union, was found hanging from her room in the evening while her parents went to the house of one of their relatives.

Mokaram Hossain, officer-in-charge of Manirampur Police Station, said Nila’s parents informed police when they found her hanging body after returning home.

However, police could not immediately identify whether the incident was a murder or suicide.

An unnatural death case was filed in this connection, reports UNB.
