Schoolboy drowns in Padma River

The body of a schoolboy was recovered from the Padma River near Rajshahi city on Friday night, five hours after he drowned in the river.

The deceased was identified as Nazmus Sakib, son of RTV cameraman Sanu and a class X student of Loknath School.

Fire service sources said Sakib went to the river with his friends for swimming.

At one stage, he got stuck in a quicksand of the river and went missing, reports UNB.

Informed, a team of fire service, led by commanding officer Ahsan Kabir of Rajshahi Fire Service and Civil Defence, rushed in and recovered the body around 10 pm after five hours of efforts.
