RAB arrests four drug traders, thieves in Rangpur

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13) arrested two alleged drug traders and two notorious thieves with an enormous quantity of drugs, a stolen motorcycle and other goods from different areas of Rangpur on Thursday night.

“An operational team of the Crime Prevention Specialised Company of RAB-13 from its battalion headquarters attained the success in two separate raids conducted at Rampura Mohantapara and Ranipukur areas in the district,” according to a press release.

In the first raid, the elite force arrested drug traders Rabiul Islam, 32, and Anisur Rahman Sujan, 30, of Dhap Kotkipara area under Kotwali Thana of Rangpur Metropolitan Police from Rampura Mohantapara area of the city.

The elite force also seized 480 pieces of yaba tablets, three mobile phone sets, four SIM cards and Tk 13,860 in cash earned from selling drugs from their possessions.

In the second raid, the elite force arrested two members of an organised gang of inter-district thieves and recovered a stolen motorcycle, three mobile phone sets and two SIM cards from Ranipukur area under Mithapukur upazila of the district.

The arrested thieves were identified as Shariful Islam Suman, 25, of village Rajkhonda under Phulbari upazila of Dinajpur and Moktarul, 35, of Chengmari village under Mithapukur upazila of Rangpur, reports BSS.

“After filing two separate cases in these connections against the arrestees, the elite force handed them over to Kotwali Thana and Mithapukur Thana respectively today,” the release added.
