Officials seize smuggled goods worth Tk 7 million in Gobindaganj

An anti-smuggling task force team seized huge quantity of smuggled goods worth Tk 7 million from ‘Jalil Super Market’ in Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha on Monday afternoon.

“Comprised of executive magistrate, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and police, the task force team conducted drives at Dhaka Fashion, Sharmin Saree Palace and Reena Store in the market on the afternoon,” a press release said today.

Commanding Officer (CO) of Teesta Battalion-2 of Rangpur 61 BGB Lt Colonel Md Shariful Islam, Executive Magistrate of Gaibandha Beer Amir Hamza, Sub-inspector of Gobindaganj Thana Shafikul Islam and Panel Mayor of Gobindaganj municipality Rimon Talukder participated in the drives.

The task force team seized huge cache of smuggled Indian high quality sarees, shawls, cosmetics, imitation ornaments and other goods in abandoned conditions from the shops, BSS reported.

Lt Colonel Shariful said that the seized goods were deposited with the customs authorities.
