Mudslide at Sylhet stone quarry claims lives of two workers

Two workers were killed and three others injured in a mudslide while they were extracting stones from a quarry in Bholaganj area of Companiganj upazila under Sylhet district on Sunday night.

The deceased were identified as Ruhul Amin, 22, and Motibur, 32, residents of Muradpur area of the Sunamganj district.

Quoting locals, Shafiqur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Companiganj Police Station, said the mud of the stone quarry collapsed on the worker while they were extracting stones around 9:30pm.

On information, police recovered the bodies around 11:30pm, according to a news agency report.

The injured workers were admitted to Companiganj Health Complex.

Police, meanwhile, arrested labour leader Abdur Rouf.
