Kushtia court orders action against plaintiff, cop for filing false case

A Kushtia court on Tuesday directed for taking action against the plaintiff and a police official for filing a false case against a couple over instigating an elderly woman to commit suicide.

After hearing the case, Kushtia District and Session's Judge Arup Kumar Goswami asked the magistrate concerned to take the action.

According to the case statement, Suchitra Karmakar, wife of Panchananda Karmakar of Charsalimpur village in Daulatpur upazila, took her life by hanging herself from the ceiling of her house.

On June 28, 2017, Chittaranjan Karmakar, nephew of Suchitra Karmakar, filed a case against her son Sushanta Karmakar and his wife Subarna Karmakar, alleging that they did not provide her food properly and instigated her to commit suicide either by taking poison or hanging herself.

Police later submitted a charge-sheet against them.

During the hearing, the court found that the case was false, fabricated and motivated.

The court also acquitted Sushanta and Subarna from the charges, reports UNB.
