Bullet-hit body of a listed local top terrorist was recovered from Bater Pukurpar area of Balaishpur in Lakshmipur district town early Thursday.

Officer-in-charge of Chandraganj Police Station, Md Mukter Hossain said the deceased Masum Billah alias Laden Masun, son of Maulana Hafiz Ullah, hailing from Abirnagar area and an accused in 28 cases, including murder and robbery, was on the run for long.

A gunfight erupted between two terrorist groups - Shahadat Bahini and Masum Bahini in Balaishpur area around 3:00 am while he was returning to Laxmipur from Dhaka, leaving Masum dead on the spot, the OC said.

Tipped off, police recovered his body along with two two-barrel pistols, two Light Guns, 11 rounds of bullets and 30 cocktails from the spot and sent the dead body to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

But Masum’s wife alleged that he was arrested from Dhaka and later killed in encounter because of his involvement in politics of BNP’s front organisation Juba Dal, reports UNB.
