Cops detain 30, drugs seized in Dinajpur

Police arrested 25 people including three activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from different areas of the district.
Police conducted special drives in last 12-hour ending at 8am on Friday morning.

Law enforcers also recovered 218 bottles of Phensidyl, 5,000 pieces of cow fattening tablets and 100 pieces of Yaba tablets during the drives.

Police said they were picked up from different areas of the district.

During the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested 11 persons including three activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from Kornai village around 6am, Birganj Thana police arrested four persons, Khansama Thana police arrested two persons, Kaharole Thana police arrested two persons, Phulbari Thana police arrested two persons and Ghoraghat Thana police arrested four persons including two drug traders with 100 pieces of Yaba tablets from Azad Moor of the upazila around 11pm.

BSS said several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons.

Meanwhile, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive detained five alleged drug traders with 218 bottles of Phensidyl and 5,000 pieces of cow fattening tablets form from Hili railway station around 8am in Hakimpur upazila of the district.

Later, the arrested persons were handed over to the Hakimpur Thana police, BGB said.

The arrested people were sent to jail.
