Another polls violence victim succumbs to injuries

An Awami League leader, who was injured during election-related violence in Kahalu upazila in the district, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday.

The president of Paikar union AL Nazmul Huda Duel and Jubo League vice president Azizur Rahman sustained severe injuries in a clash between AL and BNP supporters at the polling centre 'Baghoil Government Primary School' around 12:30pm on December 30.

Later, Azizur Rahman was rushed to Bogura TMSS Medical Collage Hospital. But the on-duty doctor declared him dead on that day while Nazmul Huda Duel was taken to Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. Doctors referred Nazmul to DMCH where he succumbed to his injuries around 5:00pm on Wednesday.

Officer-in-charge of Kahalu Police Station Shaokat Kabir said Nazmul's brother Zahidur Rahman filed a case accusing 171 supporters of BNP.

Police managed to arrest three accused so far, added the OC, reports UNB.
